Cycle on our velo-draisine

Enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the Hârtibaciu valley quietly by pedalling on narrow gauge tracks. Ideal for a day out in nature with family or a small group of friends, the velo-draisine guarantees a peaceful ride through pastures and cultivated fields, in the heart of Natura 2000 - Hârtibaciu plateau nature reserve. You could combine the ride with a barbecue or picnic on the wooded shore of the river, at the second railway bridge. No noise pollution or prying eyes which are common to well known barbecue spots.

The velo-draisine consists of a metal frame which supports two benches placed across front to front and two longitudinally placed bicycle frames next to eachother. It has manual braking, via a skid pressing onto one of the wheels.

The velo-draisine can be used on the 7km long Cornățel to Hosman section. This has been repaired by volunteers since the year 2012 by deforesting, replacing a broken rail, refitting missing parts and replacing sleepers, to allow safe running of draisines. The volunteers are now improving this section so that proper trains can operate as well.

You can use the velo-draisine for the entire day, no matter how many are in your group, for a minimum donation of 50 lei. Funds raised will be used exclusively for maintenance of the draisine and of the section of railway where it operates.

The velo-draisine is available in weekends all through the tourism season (1 March - 30 September). For bookings please contact us at least two days in advance at

Enjoy the ride!
